19th July 2006 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 30-0 knots Surf / Sea State: 1 foot surf Air Temperature: 20ºC Sea Temperature: 18ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: How weird was that!!! Following the decent katabatic wind this morning the wind gradually eased off all day. at around 4pm we went across to the beach to go for a swim with Morgan. When we got there the temperature was over 30ºC and what little wind there was was SE. 5 minutes later, the temperature had dropped by 10ºC, the humidity had shot up from 25% to 75% and more importnantly the wind was SSW and gusting to 30 knots.!!! Needless to say wegot Morgan out of the water, walked home, I loaded up the wheel-barrow, walked back to the beach, rigged up and then the wind eased off. I did get going once but it was shortlived and within another 5 minutes the wind was back down to less than 5 knots. Takle a look at the graph from the weather station though... That was some front that passed over us! |
